An account may already exist with your credentials because you previously registered on the Nurse Portal. Exit the account registration page by selecting Cancel, then select Forgot Username to retrieve your correct username before resetting your password.
Have you registered on the Nurse Portal previously? If not, select Register to create an account.
If you have previously registered on the Nurse Portal, attempt to retrieve your username and reset your password.
If you cannot remember your username, you can use the Forgot Username function to retrieve it. You will be prompted to key in your name, date of birth, mother's maiden name and social security number. If there is a positive match, an email containing your username will be sent to the address on record for your Nurse Portal profile. If there is not a positive match, contact Support using the widget for additional assistance.
Your secure password is NOT maintained by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. You can use your username to reset your password by using the Forgot Password function. You will be prompted to key in your username, first and last name as well as your date of birth and social security number.

Your username must contain at least 3 characters and your password must contain at least 6 characters.
Special characters are not permitted within the username. Special characters are permitted within the password.
To renew-reinstate, request retired or inactive status, log in to your Nurse Portal profile and select the blue tile that says, 'EXPIRING SOON!' or 'EXPIRED' which indicates your license under the 'Licenses/Approval to Practice/Certifications' tab. Select Renewal/Reinstatement, Request Inactive Status or Request Retired Status.
To access an application, log in to your Nurse Portal profile and then hover over Licenses/Certificates and a drop-down list of available applications will appear.
In order to access the Live Scan application, hover over Background Checks and it will be available in the drop-down list.
To check the status of your application, log in to your Nurse Portal profile and select the blue tile that says '(Pending)' which indicates your license under the Licenses/Approval to Practice/Certifications'/'Criminal Background Checks tabs. To check the status of your pending application, select the Application Status tab.
Access the Name Change Application or the Address Change Application located under My Profile on the Nurse Portal.
Upload the legal documentation to your nurse portal supporting your name change to the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

To update your email address or phone number, log in to your Nurse Portal profile and then hover over My Profile and a drop-down list containing the profile edit application will appear. Select Request Profile Change to change your email address or phone number.
You have created a duplicate profile. Contact Support using the widget for further assistance.
Newly licensed nurses may access their license certificate via the Nurse Portal. To access, select the tile which indicates your license under the 'Licenses/Approval to Practice/Certifications' tab, then select the Files tab.
The North Carolina Board of Nursing no longer issues wallet size license cards or mail licensure certificates for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.
Access-Log in to your Nurse Portal
You selected the third-party payment option which requires a certified check or money order. Your application WILL NOT be processed until payment is received and processed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Once payment has been received, please allow 3-5 banking days for payment to clear and then your application will be processed.
Instruct your third-party that payment forms accepted are: Visa, MasterCard, or Company check. For payments via credit card, access the Credit Card Payment Form. We are only able to accept fax for this form.
